i've just had a bacon buttie, opened it on ?????? one day last week. i think. was lovely. going to have more. my rule is smell it, if it smells odd, don't eat it. this rule applies to all foods except cheese, in which case the opposite is the rule.

OMG You'll die if you eat that. Personally I never eat anything that is within 2 days of it's best before date.

I've eaten very slightly hairy bacon, and been fine. Dry cured from my local butcher though, not supermarket stuff.
