[Closed] Asgard Bike Shed Padlocks

I think you can get similar ones cheaper elsewhere, but I ended up buying the Asgard ones as

A) I didn't want to buy some that didn't fit and then pay double postage to get the recommended ones afterwards (I'm tight!)

B) you get 2 locks in a pack that share the same key which makes it a lot easier to lock up when its pissing down and you want to run indoors!

Great sheds, mine look as good as new after about a year of use.

I decided to get the best padlocks I could find which were the Abus 20/70 70mm Diskus Plus from Big Red Toolbox.

The Asgard ones are pretty cheap. I didn't order those because I wanted something a bit more secure, so I also got Abus Diskus Plus. They can also be bought in a pair with one key for both.

As it turned out, Asgard accidentally delivered me their locks anyway, and when I called them they told me to just keep them. So they're sitting here in the shed somewhere unused. Probably cost more to post than they're worth though I imagine.

Very simple to pick...

If it helps, the military use Abloy 330/350 locks on most of their gates or things that need securing. They're not cheap but I can imagine they were picked for a reason.

The good thing about the Asgard design though is only the barrel of the lock is visible when the shed is locked so it would be virtually impossible to get the pick in the position required on the video above.

I suspect they just use different shaped picks....

Shame such an expensive tough lock has such weak innerds....

footflaps: that video is for a less secure model of the Diskus lock, not that I'm saying the lock isn't pickable, but as you'll see in the video (did you watch it?) it requires quite a bit of skill to pick, which your average scroat won't have.
As with any bike security, you just have to make your bike harder to nick than your neighbours'
