& what’s the results like? We never deep fry anything but love ‘proper chips’ once in a while.
    Get one or don’t bother?

IMO don’t bother… Our friends have one and the results aren’t the best… Kind of like oven chips.

With the right chips (or technique if homemade) it’s great.

that’s got a lot of good reviews on amazon. Do things come out crispy like a deep fat fryer? Is it easy to clean? Dishwasher?

Yes they come out crispy. Most parts can go in dishwasher although we have found that some of the plastic elements are a little brittle. We got a replacement lid once the original one broke after the dishwasher.

Sausages are a dream in it, 6 mins for browned and clocked sausages…we have found that all the fat comes out of them….

We have the big family Actifry. Full load is about 35 minutes for chips. Taste somewhere between deep fat fryer and oven cooked wedges. Much less oil used than a deep fat fryer, safer and cleaner too, less steam too. The device is basically a hot air blower pointed into a doughnut shaped pan, with a central paddle stirring slowly. Cleaning a doodle.

whatever you do, dont get the breville halo. absolute rubbish. we’re on our third one as kept taking them back thinking they werent working properly. well, they werent, but apparently thats normal, theyre all the same. absolute tosh!

Have to disagree on the breville, ours is perfect, put chips back on the menu in our house after years of them being evil.

really? so you dont get chips ‘stuck’ underneath the paddle and have to keep stopping it to clear them? looked at the design and the paddle has a gap between itself and the bowl where things keep getting jammed, and all you can hear is it keep clicking back as it tries to keep moving but cant.

like i say, this is our third one, all have been the same.
