    Mine was fine.

Didn’t take long and had a chat with the doc doing it about gap jumps, manuals, berms and other bike related tomfoolery whilst he was hacking away!

Very, very nearly went out on the bike the very same evening, but thought better of it. Back to work the next day – and that involved riding the Brompton 4 times and 2 train journeys (no eupahmisms!).

Worst bit is rolling up to the pathology lab with your post op specimen and handing it over to the nice young dolly bird at reception 😳

Mattk it’s a check for live swimmers in your production efforts! If you’re lucky your SO gives you “a hand” with it!

had mine, then had a gig on the evening, was a bit sore tho. the worst part is the doctor having a rummage before the needle goes in, i nearly hit him! and taking a sample in afterwards for the all clear, to a crowded waiting room, to be faced with a huge notice saying “if you have a semen sample please pick up the red phone and say “i’ve got a semen sample”! we split up soon after tho…

Post op sample delivery was the worst. I bumped into a customer and his wife on the way out.
“We’ve just been told we’re having twins. What brings you down here?”.
    “Errrrrr”

I’ve got to do my sample again. report came back that there were a ‘few dead sperm. This indicates that the vasectomy was probably successful, but you will need to provide another sample in a month’s time’ 🙄

I used to love the smell of bacon, since the op, not so much…..

Had it done a few years ago. Bit of shaving, anaesthetic cream beforehand (so no injections). All female team (very nice nurse), with whom I had a quick chat and then zoned out with my iPod for the duration. Worst bit was the smell of frying bacon as they sealed the ends.

Back to work next day, running a week later, on bike within two weeks – was careful with tight undies, cool pack. I’m old enough not to be embarrassed by handing in a pot of semen to anyone though. As someone said, paddling without wellies is great (wife not great with any types of pill/medicine etc.).

Honestly wish I’d had it done a few years earlier.

Within group of friends we’ve had infections, failed operations, etc., so complications can arise.

I have a letter from a constant telling me not to have it done due to the risk of pvp

I’m not ashamed to say my wife is having a coil because I am to much of a wuss for this thread. If that doesn’t agree with her though, I WILL man up. Galoshes or hormones not a viable option for us.

I’d not started Mountain biking till after the snip, but picked up the bike that got me into it on the way back from the Docs.

Think i rode it 2-3weeks later.
A straight forward procedure as others as stated, was wasn’t normal was me staring through the smoke rising up from my sack and asking the Doc if the smoke detector ever goes off..

And had to clear the pipes shortly after because the ex was a Nympho. That was sore and left my plums, well like giant victorias.

    🙂

All was going well until the doc touched something in the sack that hadn’t taken to the local.

    It hurt.

    A lot. 😯

An afternoon of ice packs, a long lie on the bed reading bike mags and chilling out was well earned. After a day of feeling like there was a bag of sugar hanging off the chaps things improved.

Ah the lovely memories, met in theatre by 4 females, yes I believe they all turned up to see the worlds smallest shrunken penis, I opted for local anaesthetic, as my mate said he had this and was out running 3 days later, in went then needle, in walks the Doc, “let me know if you feel anything?” erm Doc, I can feel the first cut, at least let the drugs work first! Cue lifting and dropping off balls to check they are numb!!

So, I feel the tugging and hacking, and get stitched up, sent on my way, a few days later balls like melons, into my GP, infection, more drugs, a week later normal size balls, a few days later, warm itchy balls, yep, another infection, more drugs, these worked very quickly, so the 3 weeks off work was good, although not being able to move and having huge balls due to infections was not pleasant.

Then off to give sample, guess what , they “think” that my super sperm has re-tunnelled and found a way through, great, so another sample a week later…still unsure of this one, I then get called into the Docs by the receptionist “we need another sample, come and collect a jar”, I walk in, cocky young cute receptionist hands me a jar and states loudly that I need to fill it!!! and bring it back in the morning, I thanked her and told her that I was grateful she had arranged my evenings entertainment for me, lots of blushing…..that’ll learn her for showing off in front of her mates.

So, advice, yep, get it done if you must, do not however be the last person in theatre on a sodding Friday night, as all they want to do is finish work and go home….

Thanks for the advice to everyone who posted originally, actual surgery wasn’t as bad as I expected – had a female doctor call Dr Pickles which gave me the giggles but they suddenly stopped when she put the first needle in. Ouch!! 😯

No real problems post op but has taken an age to heal. Its been 3 weeks and still have pain.

Also I went for a swim a couple of days ago and then when routinely “cleaning the pipes” some blood came out which hadn’t happened before and freaked me out a bit. Anyone had this happen??

Having the snip was bloody awful .I wasnt given enough anaesthetic the first time so the first cut hurt and they had to give me more .After I had an infection and bollocks like a black pornstar for weeks

Currently ‘healing’ from a testicular biopsy. Had it done under. General as its confirmed I was bricking it far too much after the surgeon explained the process, in week two and the swelling is going (shame in a way), there has been zero thoughts of any how’s your father and a saddle until yesterday terrified me and even then it was only a tentative perch.

Having had this necessary operation I would never have had a vasectomy if there wasn’t a medical reason to do it.

Yeah, the lack of a medical reason to do it has haunted me since – “why did I do it” being the main thought bouncing round my mind.

I needed more anesthetic too – hurt bad!!

After performing a medically required procedure of examining my backside by inserting her finger this very attractive, young female doctor asked me after reading my notes. “So I see you’ve had a vasectomy , how did you find it?”

“Well Dr given the choice of what I’ve just gone through I’d take the snip every time.”

I had a local, was made a fuss of by my wife and was back on the bike after 5 days. I wasn’t knocking out 30 milers off road though…

Just make sure you avoid getting the small incision infected.

What were you doing ‘cleaning the pipes’ whilst swimming? That’s a full-on proper danger-w@nk!

    Dear all.

Go away, have a little bellows style pippette of anaesthetic inserted into the urethra, followed by a catheter, then come back to me.

walked out whilst the dr argued with a consultant over my INR.. never had any more kids so even the threat of being ‘jaffa’ was enough to do the trick..

I had mine done under general as the consultant at the clinic said there was a fair bit of tissue around the pipes so it would take longer than normal and therefore be a terrible ordeal. The proper NHS doc I saw said it would probably be fine under local but if it was him he’d have it done under general so that was the decision made for me. Expected nerves on the day but it was nice to count back from 10 and go nighty night then wake up being none the wiser of what happened plus they did a cracking job with zero bruising and only hurt a bit for a day or two so back on the bike in 2 weeks. My boss had his done under local at the same time and he said it was pretty painful and traumatic especially doing ball 2 as you were expecting it 😆 I know it’s being a wuss but general is better unless you’re a masochist
