Can anyone help with recommendations for places to stay with a small child in Mallorca? It'll be our first holiday abroad with the we'an and ideally we're looking for a rural apartment not a hotel, and preferably with a pool. I know most people go out there road cycling, so I've no idea what the mtb scene is like over there. Hopefully it'll be a couple of days guided rides, taking it in turns with Mrs EMC. Cheers in advance, EMC ๐Ÿ™‚

Try Andy at http://www.tramuntanatours.com/ he hires excellent mountain bikes (Trek Fuel and Remedy's, plus some weird 29er stuff). There's also apartment options through him, but no pool.

The riding is as good as other areas in southern Spain, but takes a bit of finding. But there's easily a week's worth around Soller without the need to use a car or van to transport bikes. You might not see another mtb'er in a week of riding, though it does seem to be catching on a bit.

You can get a route guide here

It's worth getting a copy, or asking Andy for advice, as rights of way are a big issue on the island, with most of it being private land.

Have fun!

You should check out this lot. I hired a road bike last year and they also do mtbs and tours.

We stayed in an apartment off Owners Direct last year at Puerto Pollensa. Was a bit wary at first but all was fine and the apartment was great. We're going again this year. Bathe apartment we stayed at didn't have anywhere to store a bike, but others might and if you rent a bike I'm sure they'd store it for you. There are loads on Owners Direct though.
