I need to get a boys 24" wheeled bike for a mates son.
Their budget is max 100 and they will end up with an Argos special if I don't help.

Nothing special needed as it'll mainly be used around the park, etc.
Checking the classifieds and ebay, but is there anywhere else I should be looking?
Anyone know of any ex hire sale bikes for example??

Edinburgh based if it helps.

Trek MT220's s/h?

Try the Hub at Glentress?

I'm looking s/h. Something like the Trek or Spec would be ideal.
The hub s/h are still too much as they use nice bikes (~300 new) so re-sell for more than my budget.

I guess ebay and gumtree are my friend for the next week or so...

My 8 year old son uses a Decathlon junior Rockrider.

It's a steel hardtail & cost about £100.

He's quite happy doing XC on it.

Pity your mate is not down saarf. My boy has just outgrown his 24" Hotrock. Its a nice one , upgraded with LX brakes and Easton EC70 Monkey bars and a Ritchy WCS seatpost. Idealy I want £120 collected for it, in which case I can stick a LX rear mech on it as well.

Try the bike shed in Edinburgh. They sell recycled and skip bikes. I got a spesh 20" wheeled bike from them for £60.

I've got a good Trek MT220 with 24" wheels and on the M6 corridor if that helps! We will also be in the Dalbeattie area next week.....

It doesen't owe us much so happy with a no hassle sale for about £50-£60.

It was an ex-BCF school training bike but has hardly had any use (bought it off a neighbour that works for BCF). Our eldest has ended up with another Islabike so Trek has been sat in the attic surplus to requirements. I'll drop you an email as we would need to know before saturday if wanting to do a dropoff north of the border.
