I got knocked off my bike yesterday morning by a van pulling out in front of me on a roundabout, I’m planning to claim for some damage to my front wheel (needs a new rim & rebuild) should I also be claiming for petrol @ 45p mile whilst my main form of transport to work is off the road?

If think I’d be inclined to ask for the cost of a complete front wheel so that you don’t have to wait for a rebuild and incur additional transport costs. I the driver is willing to settle for that then every one is happy and it stops the legal vultures getting involved.
But do make sure that the wheel is the only damage before you settle.

Put a spare wheel on and charge him the cost to fix the original one, put that one back on when it’s fixed. No need to take the pee
