Well not fancy dress as such, but a themed wedding I'm going to.

I was thinking of a normal suit with a waistcoat, then a trilby hat. Anyone else had any particular success with this challenge?

Since I get a free pair of glasses every year from Specsavers with my contact lens subscription, I'm also rather tempted to get a pair of vintage looking round glasses just for the occasion 🙂

I'm not sure a modern suit would look particularly 1920s.

You could try a DJ with high winged shirt collar?

Don't forget to grow a really impressive moustache.

Unfortunately, Captain America was more of a 1940's thing otherwise you'd have been all set.

'20's were a bit boring for blokes, tbh, post war austerity and all that.

Short back and sides, Brylcream, nice suit with narrowish lapels, single breasted for the UK, pegged or flat front narrow trousers, waistcoat and a fob watch, good all leather shoes.

Have some pictures of my dad as a young blade in the 20's - tank top, cotton shirt, slightly wider trews, brouge type shoes.

Boaters a bit old fashioned, flat cap ftw.

My neice is really into this kind of thing.

Much more fun if you go 1890's to 1910's.
Just pretend you're going as someone really unfashionable.

Bugsy Malone-esque outfit; gangster outfit with obligatory splat gun.

Fourth post for a Captain America reference. Not bad. Not great, but not bad.

Brylcream

Lol. Not really going to work for me... 🙂

I realise a modern suit won't be quite the same, but near as dammit. I'm not going to shell out hundreds on real vintage clothes I'll never wear again.

Go full Peaky Blinders, and hide razor blades in your cap.

Forget Captain America, and think Italian. Go as a Blackshirt, complete with chest full of medals

It's not a fancy dress party, it's a themed wedding.

I think if you have a 'themed' wedding, you probably deserve everything you get, even if that includes Molls is a swimsuit

Molls is a swimsuit

A Gangsters Moll would be better.

It's a bit annoying and I normally hate such things, but they are a lovely couple, so I'll play along, I'll enter into the spirit of things and I'm flattered they invited us 🙂

Dinner suit, slicked down hair, topped off with an old life jacket (Titanic vibe)

Nazi party was founded in 1920. Tache, goose stepping, endless opportunities to get into character. It's the obvious choice.

Al Jolson - 1927 the Jazz Singer. Suit and tie, white gloves, blacked up face. Classic.
