So I might be able to afford an 18 month 0% interest £1.5k bike…here’s what I’d like, can you point me at anything suitable?

It needs to be full suspension, light as possible, pedal well (lock out would be good) but NOT XC specific, I like the laid back angles for the downhills…

    Any ideas?

Can the OP get 18 months interest free at Halfords?

    zesty 214? 1299 at evans.

yep, seen those but wasn’t sure about 0% at Halfords?

Any views on Ghost AMRs? They look bang on spec-wise and sunset do ’em so the finance is possible…might stretch to £1700 for the right bike.

What I’d really like is my 2001 Stinky with about 10lbs shaved off it…fun on the downs, slack but will go up when required.

That boardman loks a very similar design to the roscoe I ride. I’m not as good with bikes as Hora (he’s one of the best mechanics in the world, no-one else I know can tell his forks are faulty) but I like it and it makes me look good. That’s damned hard, I tell you.

Slightly less money on a low apr credit card and get a Canyon AM? Or just save up for a bit?

nbt new 2012 moco and rebound internals fitted. Spec sheet says those would be well over £230+VAT if they weren’t warrantied. 😀

Spesh Camber FSR Expert for £1400 & Leisure Lakes do 0% finance.

or from your description, perhaps this would be better, Spesh Pitch:

or this Lapierre Zesty for £50 over your budget:

sizes are limited for all of these though: M for both Specialized and “50” for the Lapierre; not sure what that equates to.

Had exactly the same dilemma last year. Bought a Zesty 214 in Evans sale at bargain price. Moon and stick present and correct. Seems it’s that time of year again?

That’s a hundred quid less than last year. Bargain is that’s your sort of bike. And not, if it isn’t…

If you want a play on the ST4, as a comparison to whatever you can get to test ride, give me a shout.
Whatever you get, be good to get a Brechfa ride in.

Alec, it would be great to get a ride in, how are you fixed for Sundays in December? You’ll probably be waiting at the top of the climbs for me to winch the Stinky up though…email is in my profile.

Can you not finance using a credit card and keep swapping to O% rates? That would give you more sale options like the crazy CRC clearance prices.
In fact even if you got a £1500 loan for 18 months it may be work out better if the buy cost is less.

oh, and cheers for the advice folks, who makes a roscoe? a name i’ve not heard of before…
Gribs, I wish you hadn’t pointed me at Canyon bikes…they look amazing…hmm low interest credit cards, interesting idea!

On the credit card front – you can get a Tesco Clubcard credit card and you get 15mths interest free on purchases from when you set up the card. Got mine last year, got my boy’s bike on it – just finished paying it off having paid no interest and now its cut up and cancelled!!
