    Spec suggests max 36t.

So..has anyone used with either a 40 or 42t cassette?

    Thanks!

Yes. Shadow XT 10 speed long cage with Sunrace 11-42 and 32t chainring – works fine although it’s at its limit with the b-screw wound right in. Mech isn’t too far forward in the big sprocket, and there are no problems with slap or dropping the chain.

The impression I get is that it’s by no means guaranteed, and there may be something that gets in the way on your particular setup.

Yes – as martinhutch I am using with Sunrace 11-42.
I did switch to a Pilo S10 mech hanger thingy (same job as woolftooth goatlink) to improve the setup.

yes it is possible. Is it for a bike with 1x ?
I have a medium cage XT clutch mech on my 1x setup and it runs up to 42t dinner plate with no issues.

Yes, going to run 1 x 10 with Shimano XT RD-M786 shadow + rear mech and Deore 11>42 cassette. Well I hope I can!
