Weird that. I'd always assumed that Strava recognised rides as zwift virtual ones and treated them differently somehow. Assumed this was how Watopia worked and that it wasn't a real place but in fact it is!

Notice it doesn't give you the option to correct the elevation on a zwift ride and flatten box hill, so assume it must know to treat it differently somehow.

They get saved as 'virtual rides' though rather than a normal bike ride.
Perhaps if you changed that to one of the real categories the rides would appear alongside the real ones!!

Arrrgh. If I can squeeze it in, I may have to race KISS EU at 8pm to help a slight calorie crisis ๐Ÿ˜†

May join you. Mrs B is out so I'll be on the turbo. Had planned a hard session today and a zwift race would fit the bill... but have annoyingly caught the kids sore throat. Doubly annoying as have a fair bit of real world racing coming up and my form seems to good. With a real race on Sunday I can't decide whether to take it a bit easier tonight or just crack on ๐Ÿ˜•

72hours out- 18.5miles of Zwift Racing should be just the tonic ๐Ÿ™‚

Or make you too ill to race for real ๐Ÿ˜†

Careful with your power or you'll get ZADA'd ๐Ÿ˜‰

TBH I'm not sure it'll make much difference, I may just crack on.

Careful with your power or you'll get ZADA'd

This did put me off doing one of the TT the other night ๐Ÿ˜€ I'll have to look into that.

@MrB As soon as you tell them which club you're in, they'll know you're legit ๐Ÿ˜†

Besides, a man with as many Power reading devices as yourself should have no problem with verification ๐Ÿ˜‰ ๐Ÿ˜€

Liking the new route - it has people walking and cheering. They even take out umbrellas when it starts raining!

Do seems to have some pretty decent zwifters round our way ๐Ÿ™‚

Thought I'd just go for an easy spin and check out the new routes tonight and did the London pretzel. Couldn't resist a couple of efforts up the climbs. Only second place on the box hill one, the guy in first was a minute quicker... a minute ๐Ÿ˜ฏ

I have the discord app which i have used many times but thats when a link has been provided on race info on ZP. How do you access the right channel when the only info provided is the channel reference ( .gg/bVURRmG)?

So do i ride today.. Do i ride tomorrow.... Answer is... I'm honestly not sure. The legs still feel a bit stiff if i'm honest. Since getting back from holiday, i've done 35 mins on Zwift on Mon and 35 mins outside on Tues, Monday felt OK on Zwift, but Tues felt rubbish... So i'm torn as to whether i should jump on the bike and try again now. Maybe a gentle one today then a decent length ride tomorrow... I don't know really.

I will be doing the ZHR race at 10.30, c'mon weeksy there is nothing more gentile than a couple of sprints up box hill!
I was a last second entrance in to my daughters fathers day 100m sprint for sports day yesterday. No stretching of any kind and due to medical advice i have not actually done any running/jogging of any kind for 6 years. I managed to win the race but today i can feel every muscle is screaming just a little bit, next year i will turn up in a suit and not trainers!

Surely you don't get virtual flybys mixed in with real life, never seen that before.

It's the first time I'd noticed it. I'd expected there to be quite a lot of flybys as there were lots of folks out running alongside the river at lunchtime plus one of the cycle superhighways parallel's the route for a bit - however I was surprised by just how many there were until I realised there were a lot of Zwifters.

That would seem more likely. Definitely doesn't mix the two otherwise. Zwift London Flybys no non-Zwift people there and real world ride with no Zwifters.

This was my walk - https://www.strava.com/activities/1036125746 and if you check the flyby's you'll see Zwift rides in it. I wonder if it's because my activity was a walk rather than a bike ride (I only recorded it because I wanted to know the distance as a potential lunchtime run)? I've Boris biked along there previously and don't recall noticing Zwifters on the flyby's.

Glass pedals Weeksy. Z1, 45mins max. Repeat daily until you genuinely feel better.
You injected a good dose of training into your legs last week- what you do this week will decide how much you end up keeping.

Honestly don't care about 'keeping' or how much it's put into my legs/training, i'm happy with where my training/fitness is... I'd just like to be able to get back out ๐Ÿ™‚

Z1 i can manage though ๐Ÿ™‚

Must be, but that's very peculiar, I wonder if it's something to do with the fact you can run on Zwift, but there's no "virtual run" option. It appears I work exactly opposite you on the South Bank, and some colleagues did that run on Wednesday here, and again there are Zwift people on there.

I guess that it can differentiate between riding and virtual riding, but because Zwift runners may also appear as virtual rides (for now) they get included in the running/walking 'real life' comparisons.

Or something. Weird.

Reading Phil Gaimon's Ask a Pro book. Quite an amusing read of a collection of his Q&A articles from Velonews. Anyway there's a question in there about power numbers and Phil refers the reader to this handy chart (supposedly it's up on the wall in the Quarq office!) Thought you lot might find it amusing ๐Ÿ™‚

Looking at a couple of my London Zwift rides and there are definitely a few IRL rides on the flyby. They seem to be mostly towards the bottom of the list as I guess they have poor correlation to the Zwift rides. If you check the 'Virtual Rides Only' box you see the IRL rides disappear.

Well i did the ZHR race which is 2 laps of london loop and i managed to get up box hill in 7:03,new personal best and yet again it was done solo.
Overall i finished 7th and about 3.5 minutes behind the winner. What was unusual though was the winner had a weight of 95kg, does this really have an affect on zwift as i was the next heaviest at just 79kg and there were guys just behind him between 50-60 kg? Has anyone experimented with drastically changing weight in the game?

There was some chap weeksy was racing against the other week. Seemed to change his weight up and down about 10kg every race!

managed to get up box hill in 7:03,new personal best and yet again it was done solo.

Was curious so had a look at the Zwift box hill segment on Strava. There are some comedy entries in the top 10. The guy in 1st place supposedly averaged 903 watts for the four and a half minutes it took him. Says his cadence was somehow reading double so it doubled his power! Still, he's had the KOM since Jan and doesn't seem inclined to remove it despite some encouraging comments ๐Ÿ˜†

Do quite like the short duration KOM table in Zwift and the predicted time showing as you're climbing. Definitely makes you push a bit harder. Makes me wonder how well they work in real life with Strava segments on the garmin, but then it's probably too influenced by conditions to work that well.

Thanks for the boxhill link mrlobby, i can see the stw table from that which is great. I am in 5th on that table but for anyone who cares that time can be deleted as it was a dumb trainer time with dubious zpower, 7:03 is my more accurate time. I think i will look at breaking the 7 minute barrier over the next month.
I might try a race with 20kg knocked off to see if there is any difference

Blader- firstly, great time, well done! I was hoping for good things on 2xLondon Loop last night but sadly only managed 1.53
The whole Zwift algorithm is based on w/kg (as well as cda of course)- that's why it's such a big deal made over it and everything is categorised by it.
By all means try but you'll end up with a ton of fake PB's lol

MrBlobby- here's a challenge for you:

Good work there! Won't be beaten by me anytime soon.

Also, with that sort of power over 6 mins and your weight, you really do need to go enter some hill climbs.

London West courses here (those beginning with HHC at the bottom.) Doesn't look like they've updated the events page which is a shame, but if I've got a PDF with club and open events listed if you want (it's on the LWDC facebook page but no idea how to link to it!)

Holy hill climbing Nathb, thats a very fast time. What gear are you in and what cadence are you doing for a time like that?
My goal is to break 7 minutes which will hopefully done in the next few weeks.

I'll check them out, cheers mrblobby!

Stats wise:
6:00 mins

AVG MAX
Speed 18.7mi/h 31.5mi/h
Cadence 77 94
Heart Rate 183 bpm 191 bpm
Power 428W 488 W
VAM 1358
Elev Diff 446ft

Tried it again later and got 6:29, it hurt as I was stood up for at least half of it...

Nathb what drivetrain set up? Is it compact or a 53 and 11 at the back?
I guess i might be on my own here but i tend to pay more attention to cadence and what gear i am in to compare efforts. I guess i dont really trust the readings on zwift whereas i always know what gear i am using so have an idea of the kind of effort i am knocking out. I know i am getting faster as my last effort up box hill was in the biggest gear i have ever done it in.
