Hey, So I'm in Canada, and got asked if I want to do the Yukon Ultra in Feb with a mate I met here. I thought, when in rome! Plus its only a few hours drive away!
We're probably only going to do the wussy 26 mile route rather than the 100 or 300. Not sure whether to XC ski or run it yet.

Anyone ever done it, or something similar?

I saw James Cracknell do the 300 mile one by bike. Strangely enough it got me wanting to do it haha.

Where in Canada are you - cause it doesn't look like it's a few hours' drive from anywhere....!

Well not exactly a few hours, probably more than ten hours drive away. Still closer to me than getting the bus to Banff which I was considering doing.. which would have been about 20 hours!

I'm in Whistler, I can get a lift up to it though 🙂 .

I think that the first thing you need to do is check a map.
Whitehorse is about 2400km from Whistler, and would take 2-3 days to drive there! I'd just fly Air North and save yourself the bother. You can send your bike ahead as cargo and they will keep it at the airport for you.

That said, you should go, if only because Whitehorse is a super fun place!
If you can't make this race, go for the 24 hours of light in the summer, the most fun 24hrs race in Canada for sure.

Yeah thats the problem with Canada.. everywhere looks close on a map and I forget how big it is! I haven't actually cheched where it is, just somewhere north up there I know.

We're gonna be either running or XC skiing, can't really afford to do the bike with all the gear you need like specialist sleeping bags etc. So just the 26 miles this year.

I didn't know about that 24 hour, thanks! I think a 24 hour race in total daylight would be much mentally tougher than having the darkness to break help break it up into chunks.
