Many good points being made - potatoes are great, and will be sorely missed because...

It's got to be bread, so long as it can be all the breads. Bread. Toast, wraps, pizza, naan, focaccia, sourdough. Nom.

I can go weeks without anything potato.

I'd struggle to get through a day sans bread or pasta!

Now here's a thing. I was wondering about replacing potato in rice pudding but this maybe an even better idea. I'm off to buy an ice cream maker...

Oh.. almost forgot one of my fave potato things. Bake the small ones, microwave is fine, then let them go stone cold. Then sprinkle salt over a plate and dab the potatoes in it and eat. It’s amazing.

sounds a bit like this!

have you ever tried mash made with baked pototoes?

Yep. Mashed then returned to skins and topped with cheese for an innings under the grill until bubbly, crisp and golden before aspirating them en masse.

It was how they arrived on the plate when growing up, and so I keep up the tradition.

He’s correct, you know.

For me it’s taters, in a photo finish with good bread. You can do loads of delicious things with the humble spud.
