A post-mortem examination will be carried out on the man in "due course"

Why?

A transparent case, obviously.

Coat, door, see ya!

What do you mean, "why?"

Because someone died.

Its only heresay that it was all his fault, or that he died of that incident. Go through procedure, corroborate evidence and confirm story. What's the problem?

What's the problem?

The problem is that the facts might then get in the way of the Singletrackworld jury...

Why an autopsy?

To determine cause of death (heart attack - blood loss etc).

And to look for anything suspicious which might be relevant - drug use, alcohol, was the man on prescription medication, was the man not on prescription medication when he should have been etc.

Well, I know it seems obvious. But what if this nutter bundled the woman through the shop window and in response another person stabbed him? So it looks like he's caused his own death, but actually hasn't.

Or many other possible complications. Very good example above re drug use.

I would think its standard policy in suspicous cirscumstances i.e. trying to throw someone else through a window! - was he on drugs, alchohol , brain tumour making him do crazy things - try to rule out underlying diseas.e PME's are always done in non-clear cut cases of death!

I bet it was a man with one arm who stabbed him.

I think the point being why autoposy if there's a bloody great slice of glass sticking out of him I'd say even I could guess what it was that killed him! Specifics might be refined but big deal the route cause would be a piercing with a big piece of glass I reckon.

Maybe someone shot him with an 'ice arrow', which then caused him to fall against the glass, and then a koala planted it's fingerprints all over the glass??
Hence the P.M.

Maybe after she went through the window, he was standing outside laughing at her all cut up and covered in glass, and she reached over, grabbed his hair and forced his chest down onto a conveniently placed glass spike.

So now its murder - hence the PM

He felt a sharp pane just before he expired...
Oh, is that the exit over there?, I'll just get me coat, then...

Just think of it as evolution in action.
