Kate Middleton or Meghan Markle....
but which one is better?
There's only way to find out...

I reluctantly have come around to the same way of thinking.

the royal family bring in a lot of money to this country via tourism, and provide fairly decent role models for those people who need/want them.

Without them the pool of modern-day role models would be characters from those awful soap operas, reality tv 'stars', z-list celebrities like Jordan/Katie Price, etc.

I would gladly contribute a bit more than the pennies it costs to keep the royal family just to say that we have better role models in this country than the above-listed bunch of losers.

I agree, but don't feel that has always been the case.
I'm not convinced Charles + Andrew have always been great role models..

I don’t know why all the emphasis is on he is marrying someone of mixed race.

She’s marrying a ginger for Christ’s sake, will no one think of the children.

Theres loads of info out there regarding this. At worst there're at break even. But more provably a financial asset.

Yes but nobody is saying kill them just write them out of the constitution. They can keep Buck Palace between them and tourists can go in a for £5 and watch them like animals in a zoo.

Kate Middleton > Pippa Middleton > Meghan Markle

NB this is not a ranking! I think they all look alike.

Look alike! Good grief no, Kate is far more beautiful than her (rather plain) sister. MM falls somewhere in between.

POSTED 9 MINUTES AGO # RE

even that article mentions that Versailes is very popular

infact it gets 7 million visitors a year compared to Buckingham palaces <1/2 a million or 1 million for Windsor

the buildings are popular not the queen

that the queen generates tourism to offset the royals cost is bobbins, people come to see the buildings, its not like they get have a selfie with her maj, or infact ever get near her

worlds top 10 most visted palaces/castles are almost entirely without royals

I'm afraid that is provably bollocks - lok at the crowd increases every time there is a royal event - but what is different about the buildings on those days that would attract more people ?

I just think the very existence of royalty is an attack on the meritocracy I would like to live in. The Empire was very good for the countries balance of payments also, the house of Windsor is similarly inexcusable.

It's like saying drug dealers contribute to the local economy.

Anyone else here noticing a sudden upsurge in interest from USA based ladies on all the popular dating sites?

Analysis shows that my profile on OKCupid has received an 8 percentage point increase in traffic from US based IP addresses since this was announced.

I'd say that's great news!

Rocketman has obviously had enough of all the royal wedding chat too and has decided to claim back the glory of the BBC News website top story slot.

I was always more of a Donna person, when it came to Suits

... but then again the meeting of the ginger would probably cause a rip of the space-time continuum.

What's a liberal?
If you mean non-right winger, then say so.
🙂

Unless you have fantasies of being an intellectually challenged American neo-con, walking the mean streets, keeping purty ladies safe with your big gun?

Or perhaps you're eleven?

Give over. Pippa is foxyAF.

I'm liberal (assuming I understand the definition correctly, which is probably unlikely) and I'm utterly ambivalent to the Monarchy. I'm more likely to be annoyed by Morrissey, truth be told.

She earns well over the amount needed so she is not a burden to the taxpayer..... where as the royal family? Who is footing the bill for the security at the wedding etc?

And if you do have millions in the bank, you still have to wait 5 years.

It is nothing but tinpot corruption that sends the wrong message about the rule of law to the rest of us.

So, a fantasist then?

If you're going to attempt to insult people, use the Queen's English.
There's a good chap.

The public purse will be subsidising this wedding whilst our government sends families to foodbanks.

Im enjoying the fact that the royal wedding is being turned into a debate on homelessness, thanks to some idiot Tory councillor.

Especially as its the grandson of a woman that lives ina 250 bedroom palace along with her other homes.

May has stepped in now, so thats sure to steady the ship 😉

the wedding may yet turn into a giant anti homelessness protest

I’m sure the Maybot thanked him for highlighting the Tory Party’s commitment to an inclusive social agenda by referring to homelessness as a ‘lifestyle choice’

The boy's done well and the girl's done well.
Why can't people just be happy for them?
If it was your son or daughter wouldn't you just want the best for them rather than trying to pick holes in everything?
I'm definitely not a royalist but just let them get on with it. A little more love in the world can't be a bad thing surely?

There is nothing stopping them from just getting on with it. In fact they could have had it done and dusted by now without all the publicity and fanfare if they had wanted to.

Agreed.. He's really dragged himself up the ladder despite a fairly underprivileged background..

I'm ambivalent to the monarchy in principal.

However, with the NHS falling apart, meaningful social care a thing of the past, food banks and huge numbers forced to live on the streets....

I'm inclined to think the couple would have won ENORMOUS good feeling by stating that at the current time they feel that a much more modest wedding would be in keeping with the public mood.

If that were to happen I might actually start to think that a Royal family is still relevant to this country.
