i work for a company, but have to supply my own tools, does anyone else clame tax back on there tools? is it worth the hassle of filling out pages and pages on the paperwork?

it would depend on the value of tax you could reclaim surely? Ie, if your tools total £10, then it wouldn't be worth the hassle. If you have spent £££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££s then it would be worth it.

I used to get £100 pa extra allowance for tools

EDIT: Looks like I still do, although I haven't been 'on the tools' for 5 years 😳

Here is a link to the HMRCwebsite & how to put in a claim for expenses.

If you have paid out money for tools to do your job then you have nothing to lose to try to claim the costs back.

i did this a few years ago, contact your local tax office, explain to them what you do/pay for and they'll change your tax code, and refund any tax that you are owed. Its not afortune but well worth having. (Try not to have a face to face meeting with a girl who you might have had a bit of "action" with, and who you promised to phone/take out, like I did at the local office :D)
