I thought I had seen the ultimate until I watched a few seconds of Channning Tatum...unsurpassed levels of woodenness that Keanu Reeves only dreamed of.

Any others I missed?

Ryan Gosling. Everyone raved about that film Drive. I swear, he was so dull in it, I think he could have been replaced by a face painted on an egg and it would have given a more dramatic performance.

Ryan Gosling, in drive.

I could be barking up the wrong tree, but Nicholas Cage is surely the worse actor out there.

He can be in some good stuff, but he can also be in some utter bilge (Con Air springing unbidden to mind).

Sean Connery, Clint Eastwood and Harrison Ford have all been in some great timeless classics but all three are guilty of spending their entire careers playing themselves.

Firstly, regarding the seemingly unending shit "wood" puns
(and referencing another wooden actor):

Con Air and Adaptation are the only 2 films of his that haven't made me want to buy a flight to LA and kick him in the nuts. Otherwise, he's super-annoying, but never wooden. FATC.

Still all great to watch...

Nuh uh. He's just dead inside through having to say yes to every film that lands on his agent's desk as a result of various IRS & legal shenanigans he's still paying for. See "Left Behind" for an excellent example of Cage only being there for the money. 2% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Two. Percent.

On the flipside, he's great in Raising Arizona, Wild At Heart, Leaving Las Vegas (for which he won an Oscar), Bringing Out The Dead, Captain Corelli's Mandolin, Kick Ass, etc., etc., etc.

But yes, either way, Left Behind is by far and away the single worst thing ever to happen to my eyes, and I own two Pronghorns.

How has nobody mentioned Clive Owen yet. Croupier is probably the worst film ever made, but he's no better in any of the others. Children of Men should have been a good film - he ruined it for me.

I think I'll use this thread to name actors I don't like without understanding the concept of "wooden acting".

I think Nick Cage has two settings: "mental" and "wooden". He's quite good at playing mentals.... but unfortunately he's done the other 90% of his roles with his wooden setting engaged.

I agree with Ewan McGreggor and Ryan Gosling and would like to add:

liam Neeson
Colin Farrell

That weirdo from twilight. In fact the vampire and the girl are both awful. Taylor lautner is good in Cuckoo tho.

Ben Affleck aka the man with one facial expression.

Kristen Stewart - did anyone see Snow White and the Huntsman on TV the other night? Terrible. And it had Charlize Theron chewing the scenery in it.

Jeremy Renner. How is this guy famous?

Mark Wahlberg - No one plays perplexed simpleton quite like him

Scarlett Johannson - Unbelievably bad in The Prestige though she's redeemed herself with Under The Skin and Don Jon (plus the Black Widow catsuit...)

Eh?

Outstanding in The Town and American Hustle. Wasn't that fussed about The Hurt Locker and I suspect he'll be criminally bad in the bourne film but he's a cracking actor.

He let his guard down and actually did some acting, it was a grave error of judgement.
