Anyone know any good sources of cheap temperature monitors I can interface to wirelessly? Wifi or zigbee or whatever really. I know of various hardware mote based options but they aint cheap.

Curious about monitoring the house, and how various insulation approaches affect things, could be an interesting little project. Also I'm a massive geek, have a linux server running anyway that could be collecting the data.

Quite a lot of (pricey) hardware per-sensor though?

Arduino temp sensor costs about a quid, ditto the wireless transceiver. The biggest cost would be the Arduino board at ~ £6. So approx £10 per sensor unit.

You could just put a thermistor bridge on one of the analogue inputs. under £1. Not very accurate or reactive but good enough I'd have thought. Plenty of cheap digital sensors out there too. Probably do something similar with a Pi
