A friend is renting a house short term and phone/broadband is BT.
There is no router in the house but I have an old Tiscali one kicking about.
Would it work with BT broadband?
I haven't got any info/handbook with it, just the sticker on the router.
Or does he need to get a BT router?

I use my Apple router with BT Broadband no problem. Assuming your Tiscali one is a "standard" ADSL router and you can change settings on it, you'll be fine.
