Wireless reverse cameras - any good?

I was hoping to find a good wireless reverse camera to fit to our motorhome (6m Boxer van conversion). I'm too crap to fit a wired one myself.

Has anyone done this on a long vehicle?

Any particular unit to recommend?

I've looked at some online and they get mixed reviews. I initially thought of getting a Garmin one to pair with the Satnav but they also get mixed reviews.

Interested too !

I often have the bike rack on the tow ball + a Thule carry box attached to it. Means the rear view camera is blocked entirely by the carry box.

Ideally there would be something that is can stick on the rear of the rack and wireless to the phone (in an ideal world it would go to the phone and then Android Auto would display it on the car's existing screen

I asked this question recently because I’m sure that a ring doorbell could be used in some way.

I’ve got a wired camera to the back of my 6m van, and a wireless one between the van and our horse trailer, with the van transceiver at the back of the van via an extension coax rather than in the cab.

Both work fine but the only benefit is not having to run the video wire to the front of the van, in a van that should be relatively easy. Wireless still needs a power supply and with newer vans you often can’t steal it off the reverse lamp without upsetting the bulb failure warnings.

i have a preference for using the existing screens/radio rather than sticking extra screens on the dash so I would lean towards Garmin unless the reviews are horrendous. If your radio is a colour screen you might be able to plug any wired or wireless camera into it as as well.

With my hypothetical ring scenario you would use your phone as the screen.

Not a ring user.... but don't you have to connect to a base station to get it on the network (Im a EUFY user....)

Be ok on the driveway I guess.

I used Ring as a generic term. We have a Tapo doorbell that doesn't have a base. Also records activity.

Looked into this recently when I got my van. General consensus online was that wireless cameras suffer from connection issues and wired was the way to go.

I fitted a wolf box unit without too much difficulty.  No wiring into the van's electrics, just the usual 12v cig lighter plug

Wiring is all tucked out of the way in the headliner and the screen goes in the space your rear view would.  Wasn't hard to get it looking tidy tbh.  More daunting at first as I'm not that experienced with car DIY.
