I'm a laser fan. Lasers are better for text documents, less good for photos. Colour lasers are good for printing maps off, too. I occasionally laser print on plastic 'paper' which is completely waterproof, handy for scuba diving and rainy rides. I've got a samsung clp310 which has wifi, wired network and usb. Print quality is fine, not as good as more expensive models and far from photo-quality but good enough for me. About £130 IIRC.

I have a couple of Lexmark WiFi enabled printers. Both work very well!

Quite a lot of Internet routers have a USB socket you can plug a wired printer into. Have you checked yours?
