Currently in the process of booking a ski trip for March, and we're looking at an apartment in Ste Foy Tarantaise. My parents are considering coming with us, but have no interest in skiing/boarding.
They have come on a ski trip with us before and hired a guide to take them out walking and snowshoeing - they're both 60, but pretty fit and fairly accomplished winter walkers (not mountaineering, but comfortable scrambling with occasional roping up) - and absolutely loved it. They got out of the ski valleys and had some really nice adventures; their pictures were better than ours.
I know there are some forum dwellers who live and work around Ste Foy, and lots more who have visited, so does anyone have any recommendations for things they should do and see around there, or for guides/companies who could sort them out?
Alternatively is the wrong resort for that, and should we look elsewhere?
ESF say that they do snowshoe guiding, but I'll bet that is a loop around the village - they'll want proper days out and aren't afraid of getting knackered in the process.
Thanks in advance,
Dave

Apartment is now booked!
Anyone who knows Ste. Foy online now?
Dave
Dave, I'm actually a snowshoe guide in Sainte Foy! Do have a page on my site, but it's "under construction": www.whiteroomchalet.com/guiding.htm
There are some cool walks to do around the resort. It's possible, for example, to take the lifts to the very top (with a guide only) then do the classic off-piste ski descent to Le Monal, but on snowshoes.
There are a few snowshoe-friendly summits nearby if they're up for "going up something".
I had a feeling it was you that would post, but I didn't realise you actually did the exact thing I'm after! 🙂
I think they'd definitely be up for going 'up something', and that descent sounds good.
I'll pass them your details, and they'll be in touch
Thanks,
Dave
