Trying to help a friend with a PC problem and I need a copy of NTLDR. He doesn't have his recovery disk - any ideas where I can find a copy?

Have you tried removing the USB pendrive he's left in the back of it?

Cougar - yep. Checked the boot options and made sure they're pointing to the HDD.

A missing NTLDR message on boot generally implies boot failure which may or may not be as simple as a missing file. What OS is it?

EDIT: sorry, just spotted the thread title. Has he got an XP CD?

Pro or Home?

This isn't a bad article. Reasonable overview of different things you can try, in a sensible order.

I bet if it says it's missing or corrupted, you'll copy that, then it will ask for another file etc....

I've got a XP pro disk that has it on, no extension, it's 245kb.

Cheers Dobbo. Any chance of emailing that to me? Email in profile.

That's really not going to be a lot of use in all honesty. As Dobbo says, it's just step 1 in 300 steps.
