Hi,
Looking for some input on a route I've put together, I've ridden Garburn pass both ways, have decided to go from Kentmere up this time.
Is there any good sections of single-track or descents close by that we should try and pick up in the same ride?
This is the route:

Did Grizedale and surrounding bits last year and really enjoyed it, did Nan Bield and Garburn into Kentmere last year and was running on empty by the end, just looking for some different bits to explore this time.
Any help appreciated, got two weeks to fine tune route!
If you're going that way up garburn, then this could be exactly what you're looking for

Edit - but instead of dropping back down to kentmere hall, do the three rivers descent. This is s bridleway that will turn off to your right as you head back towards kentmere hall, dropping you on the road that runs between staveley and kentmere.
Isn't that totally the wrong way to do Garburn? Means you go up the descent then down the farm road.
Not the way I would do Garburn or Claife TBH, although the way you're dropping down to the ferry is quite techy and interesting, although a bit too cheeky for me. Plus are you aware the ferry is currently dead and the replacement service is not always available to cyclists (check first to avoid having to ride a long way when absolutely knackerated).
You will likely meet a lot of walkers coming up from Ambleside onto Wansfell if you ride it in that direction, plus Nanny Lane is a bit of a hotspot for being told off for riding FPs.
Thanks for replies.
Yep, had read on another thread on here the ferry was down at the moment - will need to change the route to avoid that.
Cheers for link, will check out the Sam Houghton route out.
Aware that the dropping into Kentmere is the better way to descend Garburn, I've done both ways, into Kentmere is more techy, to Troutbeck flat out.
Seen videos of Claiffe descent online but can't find a GPX that shows where they were.
Same for the three rivers descent, I thought I'd included that on my route? Have a followed the wrong bridleway?
Seen some other bits online that sound interesting but again, I'm struggling to work out where they are, Iron Keld was one.
So many options in the lakes, just want to show my mates from flat land (Norwich) some real hills and great trails.
Yep, you've included three rivers. I'd done the brilliant thing of only tradrea half your post and not looking at the map!
How far do you want to go, do you have to start in Staveley? Especially with the ferry situation, that limits your options west of the lake, because you'll always have to factor in getting back around to finish.
Wansfell can be done pushing up from Ambleside, then descending east but changing tack and dropping back onto Robin Lane before you get to Troutbeck.
Another great little loop goes up to Alcock Tarn from Grasmere, descending south toward Rydal.
Iron Keld is a lot further over between Hawkshead and Skelwith Bridge. Probably work better in a different route unless you want a lot of mileage. The easiest ways to climb up Claife are from High Wray or Near Sawrey, I generally do this and descend to Colthouse or Belle Grange.
No set starting point, had looked at starting in Windermere so we could get a well earned beer at the end!
Looking for a ride around 30 miles - the Grizedale route we did last year was really good but I want to try and ride some new bits this year, Wansfell Pike was one of my mates requests, I just didn't know what route to plot.
Looks like I'm definitely going to be re-doing route before we go.
Martin, will definitely look into Colt House and Belle Grange plus others you'd mentioned!
At the moment you're going up Colthouse and down Belle Grange. The only thing I try to avoid is going up from Belle Grange, which is knackering!
Personally I'd try to get up high early on a weekend like this. How about Fairfield from Grasmere, climbing via Tongue Gill FP and Hause Gap, descending via Heron Pike and Alcock Tarn. It's one I've been meaning to do for a while.
If they've still got the legs after than, then coffin road to Ambleside, Wansfell push up from there and back via Hundreds Lane and Jenkin Crag. You could even tack on a bit of Loughrigg Fell on the way back.
Look up some posts on #jennride the 50 and 100 routes use lots of the riding in the area!

Had another go at making a route.
Taken ferry crossing and Claiffe out as the ferry isn’t working and including Claiffe took it to 76km!
Hope I’ve plotted it right, tried to include some of the suggestions.
