It's looking more like it, isn't it. Seems to be true to the feel of the comics if not the detail (the judge uniform looks ridiculous these days, so it's good that they've not stuck slavishly to that, frinstance).
Certainly from the trailer I've seen, Dredd looks spot on, the classic down-turned mouth/scowl, everything. I was never a big 2000AD reader, but I'm really looking forward to this. Total mayhem, many things fall down, go boom!
I was gutted when Sly got the first movie.
My ideal Dredd is the Gladiator trainer in Russell Crows Gladiator. Big menacing looking Italian bloke who cuts off the blokes arm who was chained to him.
For me he has the 'look'

sly was perfect, his chin profile was spot on.... "hollywood" insisted that he remove his helmet so he was no longer Dredd. Though a poor film, the art direction in the original was superb.
Yeah, Sly wasn't a bad dredd, he was just in a bad Dredd film.
