Every time I go on youtube it seems like the only videos that exist are 'Jordan Peterson DESTROYS a feminist!!' or 'Ben Shapiro makes a snowflake cry!!!'.

Is there an algorithm somewhere that has pegged me as an underachieving white male desperately trying to find someone to blame or is it just that these are literally the only videos people make anymore?

I have never had jordan p or similar recommended in mine. Although I do get a LOAD of “people are awesome” videos, which I never watch.

So whatever the algorithm is, it needs some work.

I’ve just had a tommy Robinson one pop up. Reported for hate speech and blocked. No idea why it’s been recommended, perhaps the algorithm is pushing right wing f*8k wits this evening?

It's like that tory mp, who didn't realise the adverts he was getting for mail order brides was due to his own browsing history, but worse, much much worse.

The trick is not to have a YouTube account, and don't log in to YouTube or anything associated with YouTube.

Then you can experience less targeted videos.

If my YouTube recommended videos were all of midgets wearing latex I’d understand, but nothing I’ve ever searched for relates to anything to do with tommeh

Go watch a "bright side" video you'll then be recommended them. Why 20 million people have subscribed for that shite I don't know.

If you clcik not interested on a video in youtube it deletes it from your recommendation (kind of obviously) but then if you click "tell us why" it will give an option of why it was recommended (ie you watched video xyz) and giveyou the option to don't recommend based on that again.

I think it's partly because there are so many of them and they are linked via the presenters/hosts etc as well so if you watched a completetly different interview and that interviewer also interviewed him then you have more chance he will pop up on your list. I watched a couple of college prank type videos and the next time I went on YouTube they had taken over the place, that's all I got recommended until I cleared out my history.

They've profiled you as either an Incel or Nazi sympathiser and hence are suggesting relevant material, which they assume you'd like.

I get a load of similiar "why al-right asshole X dominates in debates". Which I'm sure will be something to do with talking very loudly, or making uncomfortable eye contact, rather than actually having anything to say. I suspect my other viewing habits- car shows, radio controlled car stuff, and wargames- make youtube assume I'm a 30 year old virgin.

I get the Jordan Peterson ones too. I always thought it was because I listen to the joe rogan podcast. Pretty sure I never even watched or clicked one of those alt right clips.

Think yourself lucky; I get video suggestions that attempt to portray Jacob Rich Knob in a positive light 😝🤣

Who’s Jordan Petersen? I honestly don’t know and don’t want to google in case I end up like brucewee. I take it he’s some mental, extreme right wing dickbag?

Who’s Jordan Petersen?

Just another whiny cockbag who’s realised that he can make money from the sound of his own voice

They're not necessarily trying to show you videos that you like. Controversy drives "engagement".

I get them as well despite never choosing to watch them. I suppose its because if other interests:mountain bikes/climbing (predominantly male activities) , films, history, and some car stuff.

I've deleted them from the recommended list a couple of times, but give it a week or so and they start creeping back again

Is there an algorithm somewhere

Yes. Have you ever watched one after clicking link from the Peterson supporter on this forum surprised he hasn't posted on this thread yet with some more stuff about how we are all missing what Peterson is saying.

I had watched one of his videos so I could make valid comments about what a *** he was and then got recommended videos ever after that. I recently changed to an account I never used and setup my subscriptions and now only get good recommendations as so far I haven't clicked or searched for anything.

I do get the distinct impression that anyone with a somewhat nerdy viewing history, (history video games, bike stuff and random tool and DIY bits in my case) that suggests ownership of a todger gets bombarded with these, some of which are clearly paid links.

All very worrying as they promote a very unhealthy world view, especially in regards to interactions with women, there's something very chilling about their desire to 'dominate' or 'own' anyone they disagree with, especially women.

Smacks of indoctrination.

Never knowingly had any pseudo political stuff recommended to me. The recommendations I have actually watched have all been vaguely related to channels I subscribe to, or videos I have previously watched. I have watched plenty of bike/tool/diy/it related stuff so their algorithm should have me labelled as a geek. As they are owned by google it may well account for wider search history, browsing habbits etc.

If I was seeing stuff I didn’t like, as well as blocking it I would be checking if I have accidentally subscribed to some dodgy channel. It could be that they are just seeing that people who watch “stupid MTB crashes” also often watch “stupid woman propoganda” and so assuming you will like it too. You could try liking some new channels/videos and see if that helps them out. Or just ignore the recommendations.
