My light has 2 batteries in series. When it goes flat, one of the batteries is definitely flat, but the other still has plenty of juice left.
This seems to happen which ever batteries I use (always pairs of the same type).
Why don't the both go flat at an equal rate? It seems like it would last longer if that was the case.

Different actual (not nominal) capacity and internal resistance, I suspect.
