As above, I've noticed the trend that people reply to a post then put either their real name or repeat their forum name, why?
I can see your forum name at the top and I'm not really interested in your real name as your an anonymous (to me) forum user.

Being "Dave" and not"witty forum name" wil not make your post more credible, so why do it?

Thanks Simon (NOT DON!)

Because traditionally you put your name at the end of what you have written if it is a letter or some such thing? I quite like it (although so far haven't actually done it) but then I like to use "proper" sentences, grammar and spellings in text messages as well.

Habit I think for me when I've done it because I'm always emailing and my witty forum name is actually my name, minus th '82' obviously.
With kinds regards,
Emma

I think its a sincerity thing. Also, all these made up names are a bit sad, so it's a slight admission of that.

It's polite isn't it? Is it OK to do it if you started the post?

My names not "Dave" so I'd feel a bit fraudulent using that.

This needs to be sorted out before someone gets really hurt.

sincerely yours,

thebunk

I never do it in posts but I always include salutation and finish with my name in texts and emails

...and I hate getting texts from people who assume I know who they are from their number ๐Ÿ™‚
