So I'm at the junction of the industrial estate waiting to turn right onto the main road home. On the main road 30 yds to my left is a set of temporary traffic lights with a couple of cars waiting this side of the lights and cars are coming through from the other side of the lights. Nice lady in car to my right slows down as she can see she can't get thro the lights as they are red therefore leaving a gap. Boy racer in teh awesome corsa behind her decides **** the lady who's slowed to let man in van out and attempts to put corsa onto two wheels by swerving around her and dare I say "overtaking". If I hadn't been the sensible driver that I am and not stopped mid manoeuvre would it have been my fault if he'd tboned the old van.

My mate had a crash caused by someone doing very similar. Definitely his fault, and good evidence why you shouldn't be too zoomy, especially in town.

Guessing that one would go down as a 50 50. He'd argue that the kindly old lady was pulling over so he went past.

Definitely his fault

Why, was he queue jumping?

Your fault - you have to give way to anything on that new road.

Your fault probably, even though he shouldn't be overtaking at a junction.

Yup I was stopped, the lady was probably 25m away from the back of the queue at the temporary lights, so she just slowed down early caught my attention and signalled for me to pull out, I started to move away and as I always check for folks white lining on bikes I was cautious, saw corsa boy give it the big handful of swerve/overtake and stopped. She was properly taken aback I just thought ****!

I'd probably go with that one too.

To expand a little, he's established on the road that you want to join, so you have to give way to him.
That's the official line.
Realistically he's just a ****.

Yours.
Should have had more under the bonnet so that you could pull out, and floor it away, before the boy racer got anywhere near. 😉

I'd say the OP ought to look into some advanced driver training.

Where's Smurfmatt when you need him?

So you clocked him and gave way. No issues. I'd say unless you could prove excessive speed on his behalf, it would have been coming off your insurance.

Yup i thought id be at fault too as I was basically pulling out of a junction, just shows how you can't just assume alls good because the driver at the front has flashed you out. Still like to have given the little scrote a slap tho 😈
