Who you could happily sit and listen to all day
Its just got to be Iggy Pop, surely? Have a listen to this on Sunday. He sounds like you'd expect someone who's lived the life he has to sound. This is a good thing! 😀
Your nominations please.....
Tom Waits.
Does he?
Mariella Frostrup, surely.
I'd 2nd Frostrup
Cheers, Rich
Janis Joplin
Beefheart - in his prime.
Toss up between James Earl Jones and Brian Blessed
He might not have the best voice but Chris Cornell is up there for me
Clarke Peters
His book readings on the radio are brilliant.
or Michael Jayston
his reading of Rogue Male was equally spellbinding.
Dead - Richard Burton
Alive - Reginald D Hunter
There was a guy on Radio Leeds the other night; one of the first Red Arrows pilots. He was in his eighties.
I could have listened to him chatter on in his eloquent, aged and humorously eccentric tones for hours.
Proper gentleman, just how you'd want an 80 year old ex RAF pilot to sound.
Binners ,you are correct.
Great radio.
Not gonna argue with the first 2 suggestions in the thread 🙂
Neil Hannon. It's like drowning in melted chocolate.
Cerys Matthews of course. I also miss the old BBC shipping forecast voice...
Lemmy.
Ed Milliband surely
Henry Blofeld
Peter Sagan
/thread
tom waits.
Another vote for Tom Waits
Irma Franklin for the girly vote
Morgan Freeman
need to link to his image were you read the words in his voice 🙂
Henry Blofeld
Yes! I can happily listen to Agnew and Blofeld all day long even if the cricket is terrible!
Howlin Wolf
Lightnin Hopkins
John Lydon
Beefheart
To be honest Chambord...
I was just trying to raz Binners up with a posh bloke
😀
Ro5ey my dear old thing - surely nobody in possession of a soul could object to Agnew and Blofeld? 😀
Speaking - William Hague whenever he has to say 'Benghazi'
Singing - Zoltán Téglás
To be honest Chambord...I was just trying to raz Binners up with a posh bloke
😀
Regardless, I stand by my answer 🙂
Well played gentlemen 😀
Shireen Liane from the Slingbacks. Best vowels ever
I suppose it's possible Tom Waits had the best voice in the world, at some point, before his throat went on fire and he beat the flames out with a cricket stump.
I think David McAlmont is massively underrated... perhaps because half the people who hear him don't realise he's a bloke....
Eva Cassidy had a stunning voice; it was said that she sang like a black woman yet she was completely untrained.
Sara Montague on the Today programme has a nice voice and the sexiest laugh ever.
Arlott or Jonnners
My wife reckons Pierre from the ESF!!!!
Leonard Cohen - "Women have been exceptionally kind to my old age ..."
@gofasterstripes Jeff Buckley and Father Ted? Strange mix, but I sort of see it...
I really like this (it's minus music, so silence for the first few seconds of video):
Oh +1 on Jeff Buckley *swoon*
30 million French women 🙂
30 million French women
Have some beast with your beauty...
Singing..... Kate Rusby.
Never heard her speak but her singing.....
John Martyn, yes!
Actually it was another Martin, Martin Jarvis above.
Clearly this is for singing and speaking, separately.
Woman singer. Might be Laura Marling.
Karen Carpenter.
Lana del Rey.
Brad Roberts from Crash Test Dummies.
If we're going John Martyn surely this one
Sean Connery in Dr No when he delivers his opening line.
Jeff Buckley
Tim Buckley
Stevie Nicks
Freddie, of course 😀
KD Lang
I'd agree with Iggy and Cerys and throw in Huey for the 6 music hat-trick
