just thinking about the vast array of topics here....most seem to be answered with opinions...what would happen here without em i wonder? theyre seems to be certain attendees who have an ansa for everything...they could be either ace in a survival situation or you'd end up stabbing them in frustration...i guess some opinions i just keep to myself

Some folk may just be opinionated whether informed or not and are attracted to places where they can chat.
Look at 26 v 29 thread [ not that I have tbh]- its being going on a while but I doubt there is an actual scientific FACT to the question on which is best as I assume best is subjective.
Of course most answers are based on opinion. Some opinion is based on evidence, some on experience, some on anecdote and some on ignorance. The judgement is how to weigh each answer.
To take one example - cynic-al was modifying a frame to take a disk mount. He got lots of responses along the lines of "it won't work" and "you'll die". However, most (if not all) of those came from folk who had no evidence to support their assertion. What value should he have put on those? If someone comes along and writes "I've done that and it didn't work because....." that obviously deserves a bit more consideration.
A similar story can be seen over on the "are 26ers dying out" thread....
