My Focus recently had some work done on it which meant the battery was disconnected. This means the Keycode needs to be re-entered into the Audio system. Paperwork that came with the car( I bought it 2nd hand) doesn't have a note of the keycode or the original seller.
My only option is to book it into the local Ford garage and have the audio system removed so they can get the serial number of the system and use this to trace the keycode. Of course it's a integrated SatNav audio system so it's quite a job to remove and will cost.
Anyone have a thought on finding the original dealership? I check with the dealer I bought the car from and they don't have a record of this.
it's not that hard to remove yourself on them, possibly an hours work and a bit of head scratching.
PLenty of places on the WWW can then tell you the code for free.
Are the previous owners details on the log book?
If you do end up taking it somewhere to have it removed, don't take it to a main dealer whatever you do.
They will charge waaaaay more than any independent place.
Your best option if you want someone else to do it for you is an independent Car audio/ Alarm place.
They will charge far less than a main dealer and offer the same (if not better) service
Is the original dealer name still on the number plate?
It's possible that the key code sticker may be stuck to the radio casing which you'll be able to see once it's removed.
Might also be worth speaking to your local ford dealer to see if they can access the vehicles history on their service computer or even see if Ford customer services can confirm the supplying dealer from the chassis number.
I got a code for mine for a pound off the internet... Not sure if that's an option for your model though.
It's a Blaupunkt FX which seems to be a bit of a pig to remove. No history in the logs of the original dealer, phoned the place that the car had it's first service with but they hadn't sold it. I took the car to my local Ford dealer who had thought (when I called them)it would be a simple job to pop the stereo out. However once they had a look it was a case of getting it booked in to get it removed.
Possibly I am being a bit thick about it? Here's the stereo;

Nope no PDI stamp.
For me it's quite annoying as it is shoddy attitude from the original dealership, not noting the keycode in the car documentation, for something that would only take a couple of mins. Bit of a rant but it's pretty frustrating as the ****less idiot who is going to end up paying to get a four digit number.

yup I needed the code for my stereo and couldn't find any documentation, i thought i would need to get a new stereo,
but popped it out lo and behold the security code was written on a sticker for me. 🙂

Can you get in touch with Ford and get the details from them if you have the VIN?
You need the serial number from the set, then a Ford Dealer needs to fax this off to Ford in Germany, within 24 hrs you'll get the Radio Code. Thats the only way I'm afraid (without taking it somewhere for de-coding, i.e. a specialist can recode, not access the currect code)
I've had it in the past where a dealer has looked up the reg on their computer and got the code.
I've also been to a dealer where the mechanic retrieved the code for ten quid cash-in-hand rather than paying main dealer prices.

Yes, it's really common; especially on ex company or hire cars. I used to work for a company who stuck the radio code stickers inside the drivers sun visor.
It's also common for radio sets to get swapped on used cars, so the set in the vehicle might not always be the one it left the factory with.
The swap could be to replace a broken set or to provide a stereo upgrade on another vehicle to clinch a sale.
Isn't the previous owner listed on the V5, name and address anyway? I'm sure a google search could produce a phone number to ask them. I'm pretty sure my dad has been rung up in the past by people who had bought his part exchanges.

Just set aside an hour or two in good daylight. You'll probably need a set of removal keys off ebay, and torx bits.

It used to be but not any more, it just shows your address and the number of previous owners.
Andydicko had it spot on. Console facing had to come off and then Ford garage have to fax serial number to Germany to get code. What a faff. Now waiting for the security code to be faxed back.
