The car drove past me here so I expect to be on it when they update it to further out of the cities. That was only a few weeks ago mind, the stuff that's just gone up (that I've looked at anyway) was taken last summer

Our road is not on google maps (new build) but the streetview goes right down there up to the point where it stops on the map. You can see down the street, but you can't click any further. Bummer!

Special Vauxhall Astra actually

This was taken last September just outside of Nottingham, saw the car a few times, but none of that data has been made live yet.

Maybe, but possibly, she might prefer a nice Axminster.

What an absolutely fantastic tool for the terrorist, no need to 'case' your target, you can do it all online... hang on, just heard a knock at the door....

Can someone explain please how this might aid a terrorist or criminal? It just shows a snapshot of a street, when real information can be had by just walking or driving down any given street or road. I just don't understand that sort of paranoia. It doesn't tell you, for example, when people are at work and a house is empty, so how could a criminal use the info?
Great fun to use, can't wait for the Area 51 pics to show up...

Just checked my gaff. I can see myself sat at the office desk doing a hard days work (or not as the case may be).
Didn't notice the car driving up the street, but it was taken on a Thursday morning. The bin men had been and Mr bin washer had been round already. So pre 10:00. It must have been September time last year as the house opposite was still up for sale and the one a few doors down had not gone on the market yet. Brilliant tool.
Yep, rack isn't bad, those Nether Edge girlies are something to be desired eh sq225917?? Muha. Muhahha. Muuhahahhahhaha. I'm off to do some stalking.

There was an article about all this on the Beeb news recently, with the focus being on Camera Place, and one of my fave pubs in That There London, the Sporting Page.

Got to love a pub where the umbrellas outside aren't sponsored by John SMiths or Carling but by Bollinger!

cuckoo, how exactly?

if i was a criminal all it would show me is that

-99% of houses have net curtains,
-at some point last summer the owners may or may not have been at home

what usefull information can your average criminal mastermind extrapolate form that?

The direction of travel of the bloke knocking the old dear off would suggest he's come out of the one way street the wrong way. And she's not wearing a helmet.

Aaaaaggghhhh - it's a STW moral minefield!!!

Just looked up my Mum's address and can see my car parked outside!

I've seen the Google Maps car a few times, only a couple of days ago on the other side of the M74 and once as I was coming back from Gatwick airport.

Maybe it is not the wisest thread? I live here and I have a really nice bike. You can view entry and exit routes to my house before you arrive so all you have to do is come in and grab the bike?

You want to tell people what time you are at work as well? do you commute on your bike or do they have to wait until it is night time?

Do admit it is a cool thing, just maybe not so cool showing each others addresses?

Point taken but if anyone ever broke into my place and nabbed my bikes it'd be because they either saw me ride to or from there, or saw my bike rack on the car outside, rather than wading through some of the rubbish posted on here lol ๐Ÿ˜‰

However...

Note to any potential burglars reading this - everything is well and truly locked and alarmed at my place so don't even bother, I would definately hear and would be on your @ss with some Bombers before you'd even realise!!!...besides you're much better off going next door as they obviously have chav-bling which you're much more likely to sell on for a tidy profit :-p
