My mum has some whisky which she wants to sell, eg 2 boxed bottles of 1969 The Macallan 18 years old. Can anyone recommend a good place for selling them?

the whisky exchange buy rare whiskies. https://www.thewhiskyexchange.com/wanted

Alternatively you can search for whisky auction sites, but the whisky exchange would probably be an easier process. Crazy money being paid for whisky at the moment and macallan is one of the most desirable distilleries.

I've had a quick google and saw several sites, however, I don't know enough about this stuff.

The auction house Mcteers in Glasgow has a wines and spirits sale about once a month.
Depending where you are, I'm sure there'll be a place relatively local.
Whisky is always worth more when its in a special edition/presentation box/bottle. If it looks special, it probably is.

Can I ask where you are based as a alternative it might be worth trying your local whiskey specialist store.

I sell mine through Hard To Find Whiskey in Birmingham

If you do chouse to use a auction site double check the fees as they vary quite a bit and make sure your courier covers whiskey in transit.

Very nice bottle of Whiskey, by the way, wish I had one in my collection 😉

Some bottles are for drinking, some are for buying and selling...

I also agree, keep one for a special occasion and share it with someone special

Cheers guys. It's part of a collection of bottles that my Dad (who died a while back) had received as part of his work in the wines and spirits trade years ago. They will be wasted on me (I'm not massively into whisky) so it's better my Mum gets some financial gain from it.

I have a mountain biker mate that is a whisky expert,
He's independent and a good lad
He said to give him an email or call at his whisky shop and he should be able to help you out

He should make sure you don't get duped.
