I wear a really nice watch, the only jewelry I wear.. Both your choices are very nice but the crappy blurb written about the Oris would stop me from buying it, it's complete meaningless Bol...x
I've got an Oris, it's been faultless. Get whichever one you like the look of.
Might be a bit Marmite but take a look at VDB

Handmade and you will probable never see another one on someones elses wrist.
They are pretty big too.
If you can stretch your budget another £150 or so, then I'd suggest one of these: http://www.pageandcooper.com/muhle-glashutte-sar-rescue-timer-1/?gclid=CJ-vw7XIj74CFerpwgodN1IAsA

Similar style, but I don't think you'll find a tougher watch. Titanium case, 4mm thick crystal, 1000m depth tested, rubber 'bumper' around the watch bezel to protect it, designed for the German Marine SAR crews.
Lovely looking watch, and I really want one!

Ball or Oris?
Neither I want it for my armpits.
Bollox to either. Get a Seiko MM300.
loddrik - MemberGet a Seiko MM300.
^^^ This one with Grand Seiko engine.
the numbers on that ball look terrible, is it for people with bad eyesight ?
Bollox to either. Get a Seiko MM300.
Good call, not to be confused with your normal Seikos(nothing wrong with those I have one myself)This is proper high end quality and retain there values well.
Have you looked at Sinn, the u range is really nice.in budget and a few options to choose. Tough as boots.
Richard
that muhle is lovely, will check it out when ive more time (no pun intended)

Avdave. I'm with you. NTNOCN pharmacy sketch. Very good.
I'm desperately trying to think of a way to find the money for a Mühle, without actually selling an organ! It's the only watch I've seen other than my Seiko SPORK that I really covet. They use standard automatic movements, but take them apart and customise them in house. I love the simplicity of the face and hands, too.
Happy Oris owner here. Choice is yours..........
Watch was my hobby before I turned to Mountain Biking.
Oris will be my choice of the options you gave.
But personally I will save up for Omega or JLC instead.
Is the ball a gtls model? Be aware that the tritium valves only stay bright for about 10 years before they fade quite quickly.
cheers for the info on this. finally decided on the Muhle SAR. Will be speaking to Page and Cooper later on today to confirm
😀
Good call that man!
Just ever so slightly jealous, mind... 😀
That seiko looks awesome! The Oris and ball look the kind of watch you'd regret spending that kind of money on after a while.
Re CountZeros suggestion: Ti is best avoided in a watch as it scratches much more easily than tough steel.
Sinn are worth looking at too. But the seiko gets my vote!
PS as surfer alluded to, most Autos aren't great at keeping time. My Roly is strangely accurate tho' so no complaints from me.
Steinhart, stowa or laco
