I'm going to be 38 next friday, does that make me just above the average STW age? Jeans have always been a difficult purchase for me, 32 inch waist, but large calves and thighs, my bum is far from tiny either. My jeans are currently **** as they fit me pretty well, but are not too current style wise. At 14.5 stone I'm not about to wear skinny jeans, although most jeans are skinny on me.

Any suggestions from the larger legged gents out there.

You're 38? Honestly mate, any jeans will do. It just doesn't matter any more.

Get yourself to George at Asda - they will do something to fit your more mature frame.

FWIW - I just got some jeans from Next (32'' waist, 30'' leg). They fit fine and look okay. But I only got them because they were dead cheap in the sale and are used for crawling around the floor with the kids and being constantly washed due to the constant food/snot being wiped on them (by the kids, not me).

I am 43 and around 12st.

GAP always seem to do well-fitting trousers in my experience - better quality than most and a more generous fit. (Currently wearing a pair of combat-style (ie with thigh pockets, NOT camo pattern). Again bought in the sales.

(I was re-reading that thread the other day - quite the giggle it was)

Levis and G-Star do excellent ranges of fits.

And there's nothing wrong with skinny jeans.

EDIT: Jeans, from NEXT?? 😯

Don't you think there's just something achingly sad about buying clothes in a shop that does its own brand tomato ketchup?

Plenty on here have big legs as they claim to have 'cycling' legs, in actual fact it just fat.

I've worn some G-star in the past which were quite nice, but probably a little more 'young' than I'm feeling at the moment.

If you have access to a shop selling G-Star, then get yourself in there then - and then go and buy them from ASOS 8)

Jeeze,

So you are 38 going on what 75??

Keep a little on trend please, for the sake of all of us out here..

Blimey what is it with folk that just "don't give a fek" about what they wear after a certain age..

However you do need to strike an even balance, I for one at 43 would never consider wearing jeans and white trainers together and / or any sports clothing worn casually.

With one exception being walking boots during the winter, also jeans should be of a classic design, not baggy ass or skinny and they must under no circumstances be ripped or have writing on them (or big logos).

this^
jeans are fine for 'mature' people just don't wear them with shitty trainers.
no half mast turn-ups
no creases your mum ironed-in
no snow wash
no snazzy stitching or logos as favored by pot bellied 40+ northerners dressing like a teenager.
if you have to go cheap then no-brand uniqlo or on sale trad brands like levis, lee etc.

I'm actually nearly 38 going on 25, but still wearing styles from before the skinny jean invasion.

What's wrong with sex panther? 60% of the time it works, everytime!

See most of the suggestions for what not to where since my last post - they have nothing to do with being of a certain age - they are simply about not dressing like a total fud.

Kingtut - when I run the world - and it will happen - everybody over the age of 16 will be banned from wearing sports clothing while not actually taking part in a sporting event. And burglary, sitting in the pub or taking drugs are not sporting events

Punishable by immediate execution by one of my roaming death squads

Oh.... and the Same for jeans that are ripped or have logo's/writing on them.

I simply can't believe that you don't care about what you wear.

Jeans from George @ A*da are made in sweatboxes in Asia, so too are a lot of the brands I know, I know, but please have a little faith that someone somewhere is getting a fair $ for what they make.
And why have you given up on style? Jeans are an essential part of clothing, always have been and always will be. They are the coolest thing out there and you should at the very least follow trends to the point that the clothing you wear actually looks good on you.
Please stop limiting yourelf to your age. Yes we all know trainers have a place in an 18yr olds heart, but you've no need to wear them with jeans, wear something else, but don't limit yourself..
We do not live in the 1950's anymore.

Are you happy actually wearing pleated chinos?

Holy MoG.

What about Rapha, Muxu, Diesel, Replay, Boss yadda yadda.

if you have to go cheap then no-brand uniqlo

I just got some Uniqlo Selvedge jeans. Cheap and nice.

I have the small waist, big legs and arse problem too, so just buy a size up and wear a belt. If I get 32" waist they're tight as hell, but 34" is fine (though they do fall down without the belt and I can take them off without unfastening the button).

if it helps then i'd recommend getting down to a 'fatface' store, jeans in a casual style that arent covered in logos, weird pockets and stuff... good straight forward, long lasting and the ones i have provide ample massive leg room 😀
