Following on from the Burt Lancaster thread, there seem to be a lot of "stars" with Lancahire connections in their names:-

Burt Lancaster - actor
John Prescott - idiot
Tony Blackburn - famous for ?
George Formby - ukeleleist
Lord Liverpool - a better Prime Minister then the present joke
Roger Chorley - pioneer rock climber
Billy Preston - singist
Mick Fleetwood - guitarist
Eric Morecambe - funny man
Clyde Barrow - outlaw
Roger Bootle - economist
Emma Jane Kirkby - famous for being famous

How many other counties can match this illustrious roll call?

its not my country but we've got a shedload of celebrities living around here.. something about being a tax haven.

lewis hamilton is supposed to have a place in town but I've never seen him ( must hang with a different crowd )
michael schumacher lives down the road a bit and Peter Gabriel about 4 towns away.

William Gladstone
Rex Harrison
George Melly
Purple Aki
Anne Robinson
Leonard Rossiter
Peter Sissons
Bill Tidy
Frankie Vaughan
Terry Leahy
Harold Wilson

To name but a few and as a Liverpool fan I will not be laying claim to the countless prim dona's that frequent the local restaurants and watering holes! Though I will claim Dixie Dean as a great player of a previous generation.

slightly off tack but thinking of this always makes me laugh.. i thought it was time to share it outside a close bunch of old friends.

noel edmunds moved to 'OUR' village when I was about 9, this is back in his radio1 swap shop days, he was a nice bloke and when i used to finish my paper round i would join up with my friend matt and we would finish his round together, this was about 6 houses including the manor which N E lived in, as i said he was a very nice chap and would always be chatty and sometimes give us toast and tea,

just down the road was our old hang out'the stream', an old bridge leading to the church, the manor and the waltons (not fiction) farm,

on saturdays after swap shop finished me and my friends used to congregate at 'the stream' and climb the mighty oak that stood next to the bridge an impressive tree still standing today, N used to drive a six wheeled rangerover with a large open roof, you could time his arrival and we would all be waiting, you know whats coming,,yep we did it all the time, golden showers all round, he never twigged it was us !, it wasn't just reserved for celebrity though, it was open to all, the waltons the vicar etc,

i will probrally burn in hell for the vicar and the waltons, but should i recieve a medal for the forsight we showed ????

I think Mick Fleetwood plays drums and Billy Preston organ.

Eric Clapton - guitarist

that's enough to be getting along with. Round here if you chuck a stone you'll hit a "celebrity", but they were all born elsewhere.
