The PM-66SE I bought off here has died 🙁
Anoyingly I only used it for a couple of months then leant it to my parents as it didn't realy work out in my then student digs, then got it back only for it to die after a few weeks!

So looking for a replacement between £50 and £100. Using it with my computer (lossless/320kbs+ and X-fi soundcard), a marantz CD -63SE CD player, denon tuner, mission 734i speekers.

Current ideas/options
another PM-66SE
Sansui AU-2200 (apparently very good, but ony 10W)

Ooh, I had a nice little Sherwood you cooduv had, for £20 or so, but I lent it to a mate, and jolly well have not seen the bastard thing since! 🙁

I assume(?) you could pick up a Rotel for that sort of money. They always had reputation for being good amps for their money.

Otherwise, perhaps an Arcam. I used one for many years with my CD63SE. A warmer sound than a Marantz amp? but when I auditioned them side by side many years ago - it was a bit of a toss up

Also wonder if you can pick up an Audiolab 8000 for £100?

2nd hand- my pick would be a cyrus one (or preferably an early II) - you should be able to find them for around £40-50 for the one, a II for less than a hundred. Sound can be a pretty personal thing though.....

I picked up an audiolab 8000a for less than £100.

Won't do much better than that imho. A step up from the old budget amp favourites like Rotel 820's, Mission Cyrus ect. Closer to Naim Nait'2s.

An unloved economic buy is the Linn Intek? For £100 its a cracking amp, but wasn't good enough at the £400 price point 10-15 years ago to win many purchasers.
