Boris is watching the rugby...

On the predictions, I have no idea how PHE/Cambridge can legitimately predict 1000 deaths/day tomorrow. That's just bobbins as @thecaptain mentioned. My projection if nothing changes (well obviously they will) - deaths are not a model fit. Ratio is more like 5 rather a week later. It doesn't predict a peak in all regions and the UK is a sum of four countries, and England the sum of seven NHS regions. Dashed lines are the previous Spring peak. Nothing confidential here and leak-free!

I’m amazed how they can be this disorganised and have no plan, after 8 months…

You clearly don't work for Royal Mail. If you did that'd come as no surprise at all...!

Iam front line Nhs and not particularly keen to get a rushed vaccine pumped into me and many of the surgeons I work with are saying they won’t be having it until it’s been out 6months+

If he doesn't do this conference soon the BBC will need him to do it through the medium of dance.

The numbers of patients in the trials are really big. Yeah the trials are moving fast but certainly the one i have awareness of is being run with the full level of scrutiny. If not more scrutiny from the regulators

Have they lost Boris?

Someone left the door open, didn't they...

Maybe he's going to be the surprise celebrity on it? Usually a way of reviving a stalled career.

Since when the **** did anyone listen to surgeons on matters of immunology, you’d get a more sensible answer from a cockerpoo.

It's already been done as song and dance. If we are just down to dance then we are well and truly stuffed.

Has he just given up?

How can you announce a press conference when you aren't ready to speak?

I'm expecting a half hearted lockdown that, once again, completely misses the point

Just remembered what the date is, Boris is off Trick-or-Treating isn't he!

He'll be overly full of sugar and dressed like a skeleton.

The BBC have Gupta on spouting shite. First time my lad has seen her speak. "She's talking bollocks" summed it up.

BBC news trying for ‘balance’ again… they’ve had to resort to a nice long chat with Gupta again. At what point does opinion just become dangerous misinformation? She’s their new Nigel Lawson.

Beeb scraping the bottom of the barrel with Gupta. Shame after a good piece with Devi Sridhar.

Yep, teacher friends are saying that the unions are threatening to withdraw them all if they have to stay open.

That would make sense. Therefore you are wrong.

This is like when you have to do a presentation at work on short notice, so you just throw everything at excel...

The data is fine in itself, but who thought presenting it to the nation like this was a good idea?

These blokes are clearly incredibly inteligent....I'm fairly thick and I could have told you what would happen with regards to a second wave. They've had how long to prepare a second lockdown presentation....and this is the shit that they come up with. The teaching Unions are right to be kicking up a fuss, but I work on a peripatetic basis in a number of schools.....they have done literally zero prep for schools shutting again. You can't pin all of that on the useless **** that we've got playing at Prime Minister....it's been clear for all to see for ages ffs!

We’re so lucky to have TiRed and others preparing us for understanding these graphs.

I don’t think we’re typical for the audience though.

You would have thought that there were some good courses available on presenting scientific detail to the general public

A nice distracting war with the teaching unions would suit this lot just fine I think.

Boris standing firm with hard working families against lefty teachers. Lovely

Those heat maps hurt my eyes every week I have them inflicted on me. The main take away was R was above 1 since late August but sat and watched to see what would happen (ooh let me think)

‘Alas’ **** off!!!

Completely agree. It's his favourite word and it implies that it's someone else's fault or couldn't be controlled in the first place despite best efforts, when what we actually had was dire leadership and simply appalling decision making.
