Going to Glasgow on Thursday with my BIL to collect a car then driving back south.
We should be leaving Glasgow at about 12:00 and would be planning to stop for lunch within 1 hour. Any recommendations for a nice place not too far from the motorway?

Are you heading down the A74(M)?

The Old Stables Inn at Beattock is OK I suppose.

To be honest, there isn't a lot to choose from!

EDIT: Just found THIS which might be useful.

Lockerbie could be a better bet for finding somewhere decent.

There's plenty of pubs and cafe's in Moffat which is about an hour south of Glasgow. I can recommend Brodies restaurant in Moffat if you do go.

by 'tradition' gf and I brekkie in Lockerbie (in on S junction when heading N) head town centre, park on LHS just after lights and use 'blue' coloured cafe also used the pub there and that was ok (*these are functional/ok food as opposed to 'nice')

There is a big hotel/pub nearer the S Lockerbie junction - no idea about food there though.

If you want "proper dining" that could hold it's own anywhere in the country then you only have the one choice - Limetree Restaurant in Moffat , not pretentious dining in the slightest and Matt (chef) and his staff cannot be faulted, he regularly wins awards and only uses the finest/freshest ingrediants, i'm happy to travel a 120mile round trip just to eat there , prices are very reasonable as well.

Tebay services is fantastic. Like a lot of people, we always break a trip back from Scotland there

The food is better than a good many restaurants. And the farm shop is a must to stock up on cheese, sausages and growlers ๐Ÿ˜€
