Ebay is full of them but are some vendors better than others?

I would be tempted to take the hit and get from apple. Some dire batteries about.

Get one from an Apple reseller. Although even they look on ebay for stuff...
At least you can be reasonably sure what you're getting is a good quality battery.

I've had 2
Both were genuine Apple batteries too. Thought first one was fixable by the firmware fix they did a few years back but it wasn't. Replacement carked it within 5-6 months.
Pricy too if you can't persuade a "genius" (rofl) to swap a battery for free. 3x the price of a normal brand.
