Tescos - cheap as anyone else, and all branded etc.

I think I need one of these for keeping a permanent store of our photos which I download to my work PC. Do you just plug them in with a USB and then you're free to carry the drive off? How many photos would a TB store?

CSB,

If you buy a 2.5" external drive (laptop computer type), they are generally powered from the USB port, so don't need any additional power supply. The 3.5" ones (desktop computer type) are bigger and normally need an additional power supply.

They are however generally larger capacity for a given price.

Assuming your photos are high quality, and in the region of 5Mb each, a 1Tb drive would store around 200,000 photos.

Cheers, Rich
