We're looking at buying a 1960's house which has 2 upstairs toilets & a downstairs toilet. I've had a good look around but there's no sign of any soil pipes so...

Where does the poo go?

downstairs could be straight into a drain under the house like ours.  upstairs must be boxed in.

any manhole covers you can find / lift and get someone else to flush to at least know it works and isn' blocked

Soil pipes may vent in the roof, go and check the loft

Soil pipes are probably as above boxed in inside the house

If you check the deeds there may be a clause in there comparable to the rules for Antarctic expeditions - any ones and twos have to be bagged / bottled and removed from the county.

A lot of those bags of shit you see hanging in trees nearby belong to people who don’t even own dogs. They just didn’t read the small print when they bought 1960s houses

It drops into a big bucket under your house, where a team of minions then bag it up and hang it from a tree.

i had a mate who's soil pipes went under the basement. under a previous ownership the route to the main sewer down the street hadn't been maintained for the past few decades, but they had been filling up...

shitmageddon when they did eventually fill up. it was a guest house too, with about a decade worth's of guests' waste in there!

We moved into a house that had a septic tank, fed by a pipe running under the patio.  Took us a bit of time to work out that the funny smell was from the place under the patio where the builders had blocked the pipe with a sandbag. That was a nice job - and nobody volunteered to help 🙁

Could be boxed in with a Durgo valve fitted so you dont need soil pipe poking out the roof.

Not pleasant, even for minions...

There's a rift in space in time, which leads to tomorrow. Unlucky!
