I recently bought a 2nd hand phone. Only 3 months old all pckaging etc and know where and when it was first purchased. As i work with metal a lot at work my speaker fills up with steel filings and swarf as its a magnet in the speaker. I get my finger to drag out crud and the screen shatters at the top of the phone all around where my finger was!!!?? The phone is still under warranty and its advertised as being "shatter proof" and dust/water resistant.
So looked on trading standards and Find info on advertised features should work as stated under normal use. I feel the glass is faulty as my finger cracked it!!!.
Just wanted ducks in a row before i kick off as ive heard said company "dosent repair or replace handsets with broken screens" But this is no accident or abnormal use???
in the place where you live?
But this is no accident or abnormal use
The problem is proving that.
Probably best not to tell them you work with metal, though. Seeing as it, and glass, can have quite the fractious relationship.
I don't think 'the company' would see covering the phone in swarf as normal use!
Anyway - more importantly what is your company doing about you getting covered in steel swarf? It's not that good for you... (I'd say ask my grandad about it but he's very, very dead)

If its second hand then it probably isnt under warranty?>
According to SOGA, it's down to the supplier to prove it wasn't faulty in the first six months of ownership. However, the fact that ownership has changed complicates matters. Did you buy it off a friend who's willing to kick it back on your behalf?
(I'd say ask my grandad about it but he's very, very dead)
Technically you could still ask him.
Yes i do thats why i know where purchased and date etc. My phone lives in my pocket and when im drilling above me or when it sticks to my gloves it gets in my pocket. Only tiny tiny amounts mind. Ive emailed them and after quoting trading standards "normal use" legislation they backturned and said send in foc and wel have a look and repair/replace but ive a funny feeling theyle be arsy.
The crack around it is exactly the same size as my finger and you can tell its not a impact crack. Its gone underneath and spiderwebbed. This phone also has "crash" indicators inside to tell if its bin dropped, there is also not a single scratch anywhere!!! Very poor or faulty glass imo.
I wouldn't worry about it, it sounds like you'll be dead by morning anyway.
Very poor or faulty glass imo.
Or glass that has been scratched by a bit of swarf being dragged across it, resulting in a crack initiation site, which has shattered when you put a load on it.
You did'n have a screen protector on, didn't you?
Screen protector fitted and the metal bits in a reccesed speaker housing away from the glass? A "tough" phone would surley stamd upto a speaker clean? I stated debris on the email and all metal has bin removed by wax and grease proof paper anyway. Its the mis advertising im going for as a friends phone (same one) he ran under a tap to see if waterproof and it died!!! They then exchanged for a new one.
