[Closed] When to put up the Xmas tree?

I know shops/pubs etc have got them up already and my kids are asking when are we going to put ours up. I said 14th December thinking 10 days before and 12 after is long enough. They say I'm Scrooge and it should go up on the 1st December.

Is there a "right" time to put it up?

Your neighbour has a nice house.

Any residence displaying before 1st Dec should be fined.

House in Chase Terrace was the first I saw. Nov 6th. ๐Ÿ˜ฏ

Christmas Eve, late; if you kids continue whittering!

Otherwise the weekend/week before.

There are 12 days of Christmas and they start on Christmas Eve.

Tradition would dictate that you don't put one up at all, but of you insist on going along with this imported frivolity then I suggest that you just get on with it

According to my wife, the day after halloween decorations come down.

In my house growing up, it was Christmas eve and it was brilliant; it really made the day more special.

Technically Christmas starts on the 25th Dec and lasts for 12 days. So by rights it should be Christmas Day.

Personally, I like the 24th but the Mrs will put it before then.

It just ruins it when the decorations are up for weeks.

Somebody I know put their tree up on the 3rd Nov this year!

You don't need to ask on a forum when you should put up your tree surely?

I was a misery **** this year and and said the first weekend was too early as the 1st of Dec is actually on the Sunday. So we shall be chopping our own down the weekend after now much to everyone's annoyance!

Around the 14th and then down by the second at the latest, I hate having them up going back to work.

LOL at Cloudnine - but I have my own pets to do that. I remember getting up one morning a couple of years ago to hear a strange meeping noise, only to find Stupid Black Cat Mk II stuck at the top of the tree looking like the world's furriest and most retarded fairy.....
