I'm looking to buy a wheeled trimmer (strimmer on wheels) to keep on top of my soakaway. I was thinking of buying one of these: Cobra wheeled trimmer but I found a few not so favourable reviews (suggestions of cheap plasticky fittings and a tendancy to bottom out). I figured I'd ask the STW hive mind to see if there's any reccomendations out there.
Its a patch of grass 25 x 50m I need to strim maybe 4 times each summer to keep it in check, I was looking at a harness carried stick strimmer but I would hope this would make much quicker work of the job given the cutting diameter is 22".

No idea about models but it's loads easier using a wheeled trimmer rather than a Stihl petrol strimmer with harness to clear my local trails.
perfect excuse to get an Allen Scythe - very available and bonkers!
Would an Allen Sythe be more robust?
Random thought but... would a hover mower not do it?
FWIW, not high quality but Black and Decker do a cordless strimmer that also comes with a 'deck' to turn it into a basic mower.
Nope, tried with a petrol flymo and due to the uneven ground it’s a nightmare, too many divots/tussocks. I’d rather leave a longer cut than a mower gives too
An Allen Scythe would be very robust if you can find one in good condition/reconditioned by an enthusiast - you would need to do some research and be up for a bit of tinkering - they are nearly all over 50 years old now - spares available etc . Otherwise there are similar things available new at a price - the wheeled trimmers look like they would do the jon - the Allen would be a bit more of a fun thing that gets the job done - if you enjoy that sort of thing.
