Watching politicians squirm while being interviewed is always fun, especially when ideas or assertions are dismissed using phrases like 'piffle' or 'flim-flam':

"The lame accusation that I was found in a soho cellar, suspended by my man-bits while being spanked by an illegal immigrant wielding a hot spoon is utter piffle."

Or:

"The idea that we will raise taxes is complete flim-flam. We are the people's party and..."

I think you get the idea.

Any favourites spring to mind?

I've got a verb, 'To Blair.'

As in "He's blairing me,' which of course means "annoying me in way that's really hard to define."

What's really important is that I jemmy in a tractor statistic about some economic factor outside of my control and unadjusted for inflation or seasonality but which might indicate that some policy or other that I invented over breakfast without talking to anyone with an ounce of experience in the specific field has had some positive effect on society and it's all down to me being amazing. Vote Gordon people!

'incentivise'

wtf?!

what's wrong with 'encourage' ?

in the same way that i know someone's **** status is confirmed the moment i hear them use the word 'synergy', i know i can't vote for anyone who uses the word 'incentivise'

(edit, i din't know that '****' was filtered - interesting...)

that 'sword of truth' chap was pretty good although the prison sentence seems to have made even odder (but more truthful).

The right honourable gentleman.

Surely that's a whole new definition of the word?!

"But what we must remember is...." = I'm going to go on about what I've been told today's message is, rather than even go anywhere near answering your question.

I like it when they say "I utterly refute that", and then completely fail to.

Refute is my favourite misused word too. They don't seem to know its not the same as deny (it means to disprove by logical argument btw).

I also hate the way they say "in and of itself" a lot.

Sticking to political nouns...filibuster is a great one...as is gerrymandering.

However, if I really want to insult someone, I just say "You ****ing tory"

Surely the phrase of the year is "within the rules"

"I know it may seem extravagant to some to have had my Bentley gold-plated at the taxpayers expense, but everything I did was within the rules"

it's not a noun, I know but......

'what we really need to be asking is....' - not the question you've just asked me
