Saw this red thing on the side of the road as I was riding home. Thought it was a rebound knob maybe… a bit big?

It is threaded all the way down inside.

It only looks that big because it's really close to the camera.

Possibly the stopper to Pandoras flask that Sunak has casually discarded.

Thrump cover.
Was there any spill evidence near by?
😉

15mm doesn't sound that big for a rebound adjuster or a valve cap, or maybe a perfume bottle?

I suppose the important question is you weren't in Amesbury when you found it were you?

Did you find bits of a "Do not remove the red cap" sign nearby? 🙂

It wasn’t more than about 5km from the dead wild boar I posted earlier. Way bigger than a valve cap. Much bigger than the rebound knob on my 36mm forks.

Cap for a bore hole and it leaked to death then?

Is it the focus dial on your camera?

I'd put it back, TBH...

Don't some Fox forks have an oversized red cover for adjusters on bottom of the leg?

Photo taken at night in a shed, best I could manage after 70km of commuting today 🤣

Too small for a bar end weight I think.

Hydraulic port cover could be right i reckon.

Or maybe a broken UFO

Cover from a probe more likely tough it could be anal or oral depending if it's extra terrestrial or terrestrial in origin. Give it a quick lick to check, the ET ones go for quite a bit on ebay.

(maybe stick it on ebay as a cake damaged shatners bassoon and see how much you get for it?)

Rooster? That's a knob end then, assuming the threads aren't knackered it's a single or at least a newly coupled one though and can still be screwed.
