...from about 2-3 years ago that sounds a little like Peter Gabriel but isn’t and could be Arcade Fire but I don’t think it is?

Some more clues would be helpful, like a title, a lyric, or something. I love both artists, so I might be able to identify it given a bit more info.

It has pan pipes at the start and throughout the melody. 80’s feel but likely last 5 years

What the hell has ‘pan pipes’ in it!? 😂🤣

Wait, it’s not C*ldplay is it, with that Bono Chris bloke whining along to some CG monkeymation?

😬

Not Vampire Weekend, and not quite as upbeat as that

If you know what radio show you was listening to, you can look at the track listing for that ep and decipher from that.
(Google Radio 2 track listing)

I’m bumping this thread, not because I have anything to add, but because I love the fact that here, on STW, we can take an vague, entirely word-based, description of a song and figure out what it is.

So come on folks; let’s find the OP’s answer!

🙂

Sounds so like Peter Gabriel in the chorus, catchy tune too, even though it has already been dismissed by OP as tune they were thinking of. Shocked it's from 2011, I was thinking maybe 2015ish! 😮

Not heard that Incantations for years, top tune!

Never heard of that song by Elbow, and they don’t use panpipes. String arrangements, yes, panpipes, no.

Ok, so I’ve been through they playlist when I thought I’d heard it to no avail, sadly.

My head has now become more blurred trying to ascertain any distinguishing features.

Any other bands similar to Arcade Fire in the last few years?

I have it, turns out it was Arcade Fire, Everything Now, the official video was a distraction as the intro is different from the radio version, pan pipes at 02:35 for those interested 🙂
