As stated really. I've got a 3 seat Reimo Variotech Rock N Roll type bed to sell, including the extra bits to make it a full bed. All upholstered and everything, and in v good nick apart from a crack in the plastic base cover. Now, these things go for around £2500+ brand new without the extra bits, which came as a bit of a surprise to me as it came with my old van. Any thoughts as to what I can ask for it? Don't want to be a robbing b@stard, and don't want to be ripped off either. Can't find any (Reimo ones) second hand to compare. Could just 'bay it but would rather not.
What van has it come out of?
Advertising it on somewhere like here will get you a better price, you'll have to register but it would be worth it.
Price wise if you didn;t know what it was worth i'd say put it up for £1000 - £1200ono and see what interest sparks but it'll be fairly rear so don;t think you'll struggle to sell it
It came out if a Vivaro, but I think they're a fairly standard size? I was thinking around that, just kinda came as bit of a surprise to find out what they cost!
they are crash tested (german standards as the UK dont have any) and one of the very few aftermarket seats that are. and therefore are pretty much the only bed/seat that is safe for passengers. hence the price.
i paid circa £1500 for a new one fitted but un-upholstered.
i agree about £1k is about what i'd pay for a complete second hand.
The fittings on the base can be specific depending on the van its for so be aware and if it was me i'd check before selling it on. (i know t5 ones shouldnt go in t4`s for instance as they will be unsafe as the chassis is different)
It was on rails, not bolted to the floor of the van. Would that make a difference? £1000, hmm.... new bike stuff...
Afternoon Leaks 😉
The seat is crash tested? To what purpose? Seatbelts should be secured to the body, not the seat, the seat is only a carrying device?
mines on rails. i think it may be to do with spacings of the rails. i only really know about the VW stuff as thats what i've got. in t5's i think the rails bolt to the chassis rails. in a t4 the rails dont so hte rails need bonding to the floor to provide adequate fixing to stop the seat going through the windscreen in a crash. i think the t5 rails are a different spacing and dont allow adequate fixing which is why they are non transferable. i`ve no idea how that correspond acorss the various van ranges but i know there is alot of info on their website. and they sell specific equipment for different vans - not sure if this is just the same seat relabelled or otherwise. the german TUV regs are much stricter than here so maybe.
I'm not sure on the tests, as it slides on rails I'm guessing that the tests are to check it won't rip out. I'm sure someone on here would know more?
the TUV tests are about the seat ripping out. some conversions are liable to crush the occupant between the seatbelt and the seat in a crash as the seat moves (and whatever is in the back of the van) but hte seatbelts do not. not nice. there is a robust locking mechanism to fix the seat in place on the rails. it should not be driven without it locked in place cos as soon as you brake it slides about - not good!
we used these guys - Concept Multi-Car Ltd to fit ours. they import the seats, are helpful and will be able to tell you all about it.
the wife spent months and months researching the safest seats and onversions possible as our kids are in the seats!
